Terms of Service

These Terms are a binding agreement between you and THE RUMII CO PTY LTD (“RUMY”, “we”, “us”) governing your use of the RUMY app, r-u-my.com and rumy.online (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

1. Eligibility

You must be 18 or older and able to form a binding contract. You agree to provide accurate information and keep it current.

2. Your account

You’re responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your login secure. Don’t impersonate others or create accounts for anyone but yourself. You may delete your account anytime in the app (Profile → Account).

3. What RUMY is — and isn’t

RUMY is a platform that helps people discover and connect over share housing based on compatibility. RUMY is not a real-estate agent, landlord, tenant, property manager, or party to any tenancy, lease, sub-lease or other arrangement between users. We don’t verify the accuracy of listings or the suitability, conduct or identity of any user beyond checks we choose to run. Any agreement you enter with another user is solely between you and them; do your own due diligence and follow local tenancy laws.

4. User content & conduct

You own the content you post (photos, profile, listings, messages) and grant RUMY a licence to host and display it to operate the Service. You agree not to post false, misleading, discriminatory, harassing, unlawful or infringing content; discriminate against users in breach of anti-discrimination law; scrape or misuse the Service; or use it for anything other than genuine share-housing matching. We may remove content or suspend accounts that breach these Terms or threaten user safety.

5. Fair matching

RUMY matches on lifestyle and habits. Sensitive personal attributes are for self-expression only and are never used by us to rank, filter or score people.

6. Subscriptions & purchases

RUMY offers optional paid features (e.g. RUMY+, Landlord Pro, Boost, Ring). Prices are in AUD and shown in-app.

• Subscriptions are billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play and auto-renew at the then-current price unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• Manage or cancel anytime in your App Store / Google Play account settings; deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
• Consumables (e.g. Boost, Ring) are one-time purchases and are non-refundable once used, except where required by the Australian Consumer Law or the relevant store’s policies. Refunds are handled by Apple/Google under their terms.

7. Safety

Use the in-app block and report tools. Never share financial details or pay deposits without independently verifying the other party and the property. We are not responsible for users’ conduct on or off the Service.

8. Intellectual property

The RUMY name, logo and app are owned by us. We grant you a limited, revocable, non-transferable licence to use the app for its intended purpose.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is.” To the extent permitted by law (and without excluding any guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law), we disclaim warranties about availability, accuracy, or that matches or outcomes will result.

10. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, RUMY is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for the acts, omissions, content or arrangements of other users. Nothing limits rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account anytime. We may suspend or terminate access for breach or to protect users.

12. Changes

We may update these Terms; we’ll post the new version here and update the date. Continued use means you accept the changes.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia, and you submit to the courts of that jurisdiction.
